Before Spock…There Was Narab!

After the Comic:

Before Leonard Nimoy traveled through space aboard the USS Enterprise, he was already causing trouble among the stars!

In the 1952 Republic movie serial Zombies of the Stratosphere, a young Leonard Nimoy played Narab, one of the Martians plotting to blast Earth out of its orbit. That was fourteen years before Star Trek premiered in 1966 and Nimoy became famous around the world as Mr. Spock.

So, before Spock was exploring strange new worlds, Nimoy was already playing an alien trying to take over ours! I guess you could say he traded his Martian hood for a pair of pointed ears—and the rest became television history.

The original adventure was divided into chapters and packed with repeated recaps, fistfights, rocket flights, uranium robberies, a mechanical robot, and plenty of Saturday-matinee cliffhangers. My special 25-minute shortened version removes much of the repetition while keeping the main story: the Martian invasion, Larry Martin’s flying rocket suit, the robot attacks, the secret underwater cave, the final rocket battle, and the race to stop the bomb from destroying Earth.

Get your popcorn ready, keep an eye on the window, and remember—if Spock puts his finger over his lips, you didn’t see anything!
